Following are brief description of some of or projects:
Toshky, Halayeb, and East Ouinate GIS System Development of GIS system for Toshky, Halayeb, and East Quinate. The scope of work includes establishment of a GIS unit including production of digital base maps as well as soil classification and soil suitability GIS database for these regions within GIS customized applications. A training program for Soil, Water & Environmental Research Institute (SWERI) staff has been also performed.
Arab Contractors GIS Unit Global Geobits acquired and installed the HW & SW for the GIS unit besides delivering series of workshops, seminars, and lectures for top and middle company staff management in the area of GIS and DBMS. Our task also included training GIS engineers as well as setting specifications for QC/QA.
Consultation for Alexandria Water General Authority (AWGA) GIS training as well as consultation services for coordination of AWGA departments in the area of mapping and relevant technologies.
CEDC GIS pilot project Global Geobits was selected by Canal Electricity Distribution Company (CEDC) to establish a GIS unit and build a customized application for Minia Elkamh District.
GIS/DBMS for DINA Agriculture Investments Global Geobits was engaged in the data conversion of line maps (1:1000) into digital files. GIS/DBMS application was developed for various farm components covering an area of approximately 11000 acres. Results of this project were presented in the Conference on Geo-Information for Sustainable Land Management, ITC, the Netherlands, August 1997.
Integrated Project for the Egyptian Village Building a GIS/DBMS customized application for Ezz-Eldin village for land records, utilities, and land use management.
Marina Alalmien project management system Development of a GIS/DBMS customized application for Marina Alalmien development project on the North Western coast of Egypt (km sign 106) for planning and management purposes.
Portland Cement Factory GIS application Global Geobits identified the opportunity and worked jointly with the GIS unit in the Arab Contractors, which was established by Global Geobits a year earlier in building a GIS application and a DBMS for the factory.
Digital mapping for University Campus Surveying work, digital mapping, and a customized application for Cairo University main campus located in Giza Governorate.
Itoshima Peninsula Sustainable Community Planning Global Geobits, Inc. supported the development of an environmental analysis for the itoshima peninsula near Fukouka, Japan. The Fukouka National University is exploring opportunities for moving the institution to a location that can accommodate the current and future growth. The nearby peninsula of Itoshima companies a picturesque and environmentally sensitive setting that can provide an ideal future location for the university. The Geobits team developed series of development opportunity and constraint data and models, which were further, analyzed to developed land capability and suitability analysis. This information was used to both develop an overall conceptual master plan for the new university, and the development of several energy and environmental related research projects that were being carried out by the university. It is expected that this detailed and comprehensive database for the peninsula be used beyond the planning phase of the project to support more detailed site analysis and campus design activities if the University decides to move to that location.
Salton Sea Database Program Global Geobits, Inc. provides periodic support to a major research initiative at the University of Redlands, Redlands, California. The Salton Sea database program (SSDP) is a major bi-national, bi-regional decision support initiative that includes a variety of components to compile and provide information to support various scientific investigations related to restoration of the Salton Sea. The program also includes provisions for various analytical and visualization tools to support the restoration process. Geobits has provided various technical supports in data compilation and in the generation of analytical products to support the restoration investigation.
GIS Database development of base maps of Lagos Digital data of a number of 100 map sheets at scale 1:1250 of Lagos city in Nigeria.
Drainage Research Institute (DRI) GIS Training Program Global Geobits performed a training program for Drainage Research Institute personnel covering the following software (ArcInfo, ArcView, and Avenue programming Language).
City Utility & Super-structure Management System A GIS database and GIS customized application was developed making use of the GIS capabilities as a powerful tool in planning, managing, controlling, and updating of all the land use activities and facilities that exist in the city. All utilities ,water & sewage Networks, Telephone, electricity & gas were transformed into GIS database.
Development Research and Technological Planning Center (DRTPC) Global Geobits was selected by DRTPC of Cairo University to develop a customized application on rainfall harvesting techniques from flash floods in Halayeb and Shalateen in Upper Egypt.
Ministry of Agriculture, Desert Research Center (DRC) Global Geobits won a public tender to up-grade the GIS laboratory of the Desert Research Center (DRC). This task included hardware and software installation and system integration.
Geographic Planning Collaborative GPC, USA Data of 1:5000 topographic map sheets for Itoshima Project in Japan.
City of Valencia, California Global Geobits, Inc, team supported Psomas’ engineering and land planning department in conducting a visual impact analysis for a major industrial/commercial development project in Valencia, California. This analysis involved the compilation of contextual, digital elevation model from the USGS and the integration of that information with more detailed site survey information for both existing conditions as well as planned landscape alterations. This information was used to generate before and after topographic alteration and building massing conditions, which provided input to the development of an environmental impact statement to explain the future visual impact of the project. This information was used to develop a series of visualization projects in both digital and hard copy display formats.
Superintendence de Aguas, in La Paz, Bolivia The Superintendence is the organization responsible for managing all water utilities and related concessionaries within the Country of Bolivia. The project was intended to demonstrate the application of GIS technology to the management of publicly owned facilities, and for the tracking and valuation of assets that are managed by private concessionaires. An overall policy direction in Bolivia is to move these utilities to privatization, and the GIS project was effective in demonstrating the effective management of the Superintendence’s role in both public and privatized context.
University of Southern California (USC) Global Geobits, Inc. supported USG in the development of an electronic globe as a component of USC and the world exposition. One of the prime objectives of the exhibition was to showcase the linkages between USC and the global community at a variety of levels. The electronic globe allowed the linking of faculty, students, and alumni, to their various engagements around the world, and the development of spatial and tabular queries tools and map visualization to highlight these connections. This web-enabled application allows users to locate specific individuals and to display their locations one map anywhere in the world, or to zoom to a specific location on the globe and query about USC affiliations within this particular place.
Cambria Community Services District (CCSD), San Luis Obispo country California Conversion of parcel boundary information and linking of information to assessor’s real data and the development of several queries to support in court defense of the District’s water allocation policies. This involved the compilation, integration, and format conversion of data from CAD files, parcel data that originally resided on a legacy pick operating system and information from the country Assessor’s Office. This information was integrated into an initial database framework that was used to support the District’s Court argument, and has since served as the basic foundation for the development of other GIS components.
Geonex, USA Geographic Planning Collaborative (GPC) as a main contractor has assigned the task of digital data and updating of GIS database of Thomas Brothers Maps to Global Geobits.
Center of African Studies (CAS) Global Geobtis assisted the Center of African Studies of Cairo University in building their GIS Unit including Hardware and Software installation and system integration
GTZ, German Technical Assistance GTZ has chosen Global Geobits to act as a consultant in preparing a dynamic and interactive DBMS for the upgrading of two informal settlements in Cairo, namely Manshiet Naser and Bulak Eldakrour.
Dream Land (Bahgat Group) Dream Land is a highly prestigious resort area in Egypt with a variety of activities developed by Bahgat Group. Global Geobits built a GIS unit in Dream Land, besides offering consultation services and tailored training. A GIS system was developed including archiving, management, marketing, planning, analysis, emergency response, and maintenance modules.
GIS for Centex Homes Inc. Global Geobits, Inc. has been supporting Centex Homes in the incremental development of a comprehensive real estate and Housing development GIS Infrastructure. The development of this infrastructure has been initiated within the market analysis and land acquisition functions of the company. Information was compiled from many different sources and integrated geographically for analysis of optimum market housing products as well as the identification and assessment of various land acquisition strategies. The system has been structured to support extension and refinements of the basic data and GIS software tools to support other parts of the company’s operations.
Cambria Parcel base map refinements In a second subproject, Geobits worked with the District’s engineers to refine the original parcel base to a greater level of spatial accuracy. This was done by conducting global positioning system (GPS) data collection and the rectification of the parcel base.
Restoration of Historical Cairo Global Geobits as a sub-contractor to the Engineering Consultation Center (ECC), has won two public tenders (Y 2000 & 2001) for the surveying, photographic and architectural documentation of several historical monuments in old Cairo as well as production of digital base maps. These included Bab Elnasr, Bab Elfotouh, Cairo Sur, Beshtak Palace, Sultan Enal Path, Kameliah School, and Abd Elatif Alkorafy Mosque.
Middle Voltage Electrical Network GIS System (MVEN) Based on the success of our previous project in 1997, a new contract was awarded to Global Geobits to develop customized GIS applications for Elzakazik and Abukebeer cities in Sharqia Governorate, including production of digital base maps, electrical network, and GIS database development.
City Maps & GIS database development Global Geobits embarked on an ongoing GIS database development project for several cities and villages all over Egypt. The work included among other tasks production of 1:5000 map scale from IKONOS satellite imagery. The work included attribute data collection for 22 major cities.
Lease-To-Own (LTO) Project Global Geobits worked closely with Geographic Planning Collaborative (GPC) , a USA based GIS Company to develop a Parcel-Based data conversion project for subsequent database management , utility and GIS applications. The project started in a limited geographic area in California “Nipomo”, a community located in San Luis Obispo County.
Sustainable Development Project Developing a GIS/DBMS customized application aiming towards upgrading of two informal regions in Ismailia, Elhalous and Elbahteeni regions. The work included digital mapping and GIS database development.
GIS for Greater Cairo Region Global Geobits, being enlisted as a consultant company in the area of GIS and Surveying in the General Organization for physical planning, has been asked to develop a GIS landuse and planning application for the area of Greater Cairo inside the new proposed outer ring road.

CEDC / MVEN – GIS integrated system Having achieved clear success in our previous assignments with Canal Electricity Distribution Company (CEDC), Global Geobits was awarded a new contract to implement GIS System for All Electrical Network to the Sharkia governorate, Port-Said, Suez and Harghada.
Web Site Development The Ministry of Culture has awarded Global Geobits a contract for establishing a very demanding web site covering various activities of its palaces all over Egypt. This was based on a public tender where more than twenty specialized companies have competed to win it.

Egyptian Agricultural Cadastral System for Middle Egypt Region Global Geobits in a consortium with Globe Telecom, CITC, and Prima Soft won a major tender for developing an agricultural cadastral system for Middle Egypt region covering the governorates of (Giza, Bani Suef , ElMenia, and Elfayoum).
Egyptian Agricultural Cadastral System for upper Egypt Region Global Geobits as a sub contractor to Prosylab was contracted to implement part of the work related to the agricultural cadastral system for upper Egypt region.
